Ohio vs. Caleb Flynn

The Caleb Flynn case centers on the February 16, 2026 shooting death of 37-year-old Ashley Flynn inside the family’s Tipp City, Ohio home. Her husband, Caleb Flynn—a former worship pastor who appeared as a contestant on American Idol in 2013—called 911 and reported that an intruder had entered the home and shot his wife while he was elsewhere in the house with their two daughters.

Investigators soon questioned that account. Prosecutors allege that Flynn killed Ashley and staged the scene to make her death appear to be the result of a home invasion. Flynn was arrested days later and has pleaded not guilty. He is charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and related offenses. His trial began in Miami County, Ohio, in September 2026.

The prosecution’s case is expected to rely heavily on digital evidence, the physical evidence inside and around the Flynn home, Flynn’s statements to investigators, and communications involving another woman. The couple’s two daughters, who were inside the home when their mother was killed, are also expected to be important witnesses. Flynn’s defense maintains that an intruder was responsible for Ashley’s death.
